I want to share something positive with you guys. Most my postings are updating anyone if anyone on my situation. All the crap said and posted about me takes a little time to explain or prove 100% false.
How about something positive if I may. I am passionate for business both large and small. Despite what looks like a bunch of failures on my part I am actually successful.
Last month one of my companies brought in around 150k in gross sales. Not too shabby right? Even with the junk posted how do I do it? How can you do it is the better question?
I have been up, down and in the middle OK. So I know first hand if you are reading this you might be saying "I don't have any investment cash" Or "I don't have any business skills".
Either did I! When I lost a bunch of my money back in 2007 is was hard. But I said to myself OK start over you no longer have thousands of dollars to invest or 100's of thousands. Your broke! Business school 101. Think of a way to create a dollar or ten bucks or a million bucks. Not earn that's called a job. Creating cash flow is different than earning it. Not that you are not going to work hard because you will. But I never looked for a job, in fact I have never had a job. I create jobs for others and in doing so I create cash flow. Lets start basic to get the blood pumping. A candy machine- Cost $45 bucks on your local Craigslist maybe even free! Candy $25.00 bucks at sams club. So total $70.00 bucks give or take.
If you place it in someones business, perhaps a office or warehouse or laundry mat. And you sell 12 people per day for .25 cents. That's $3.00 dollars you created- You did not work for that your business created it.
That's $1095.00 bucks per year. Say you have 20 machines? That's an extra $20,900.00 per year in pure created cash! Some people out there have 200-500 of these in operation!
That's how I start- I think of a concept or proven business and engage in it. At one point in my life I needed some extra cash so I started a hand car wash :) I went to Wal-Mart and purchased about $40.00 bucks worth of rags, car wash, a hose, interior cleaner and some tire cleaner. I then asked a local business owner if I could set up in his parking lot. He had a extra lot he was not using at the time. I hired two workers at $8.00 bucks an hour. I had one of them hold a sign out by the road. I did over $400.00 bucks the first day! Before long I was making 2k per week and I never washed one car! Before long the owner of the lot saw my business and asked me to leave even though I was paying him $800.00 per month in rent. I was upset but I had to leave. The very next day his cousin was out there washing my customers cars! But I screw people right? Hey that's business and you do not have time to sit and complain. I Turned around and invested 5k in another business. That business now makes a 7 digit income.
There are levels of money we all know that. Perhaps your at the car wash phase or perhaps even the candy business phase. It does not matter and there is NO shame in good honest small business.
Let's say you have a good job? Would an extra 10k per year help out? Of course it would. I have a very small cash flow business that only produces around 12k per year! But you know what- That money paid for some car repairs and my vacation to Yellow Stone National Park this year. In fact my Vacation was on the net! One of the Cyber stalkers talked all about it.
If I can do this with my name like mud you can to! Its not easy for me, in fact I lose as much as I make because of these cyber stalkers. Deals fall through all the time and the reason given is "I googled your name and I am scared". The likely hood is you do not have this vice!
Think positive and think forward. Also my advice is not to try and hit a home run first time at bat. I often tell people this little story of the business man that never was. He had great ideas, some of them would make him millions. Yet it cost so much money to launch he could never do them. No bank wanted to take the chance and he was not too good at talking to investors. He kept trying to hit a home run his whole life. Then one day he woke up as an old man and realized he never even got into the game.
JUST BUNT! HIT A GROUNDER! Just get on first base! After enough small hits you will start to score runs and soon you will be up on the score board. Then if you decided to swing like a wild man GO FOR IT! Maybe you will slam it out of the park. But even if you strike out guess what? You still have the bases loaded and all you need is a line drive to make another score :)
I love business, more than a starving man on a ham! But I also have 5 girls and a wife to support so its very important for me to keep the bases loaded and hit line drives. Every now and then you will see me swing like Babe Ruth. But when your goal is to be a home run king you often wind up losing the game in business. So simply make wining the game the first priority! The money is your score board.
I bet you this America- If you took 1 hour on your local craigslist you could hit a solid bunt. I just bought 17 old time school desk for $100.00 bucks for all 17 desk! I sanded them, stained them and spray painted the bottoms grey. I then started selling them for $125.00 each. My goal was to keep 7 of them and flip the others for a total profit of $1,000.00 dollars. That's a bunt!
Last month I bought a 1976 Trans AM for $600.00 bucks. Not running and it was all nasty. But I looked on ebay for the cars value fixed up. It was bringing in 25-35k Yes thousand! I own a old restoration shop so this deal perked my attention. I washed it, removed the old carpet and seats and decided to flip it fast. I sold that car for 3k within 3 hours of my listing! I turned $2,400.00 in 3 hours. That's a bunt folks.
Last month I also flipped a used cargo trailer and scored a grand another bunt. However by the end of the month I had flipped for 5k profit all using my local CR. I do this all the time, its my hobby :) Best flip ever scored me 45k in 30 days. That was a bunt!
Line drives that produce runs can earn you 100k plus per year. Other line drives have earned me millions over time ( the length of the game)
It's doable, its not always easy, and its 100% fun! I always laugh at these people saying I scam? Its too easy to make money to worry about a scam! I see concession trailers all the time on line for 5k?? Its like a 20k trailer of course its a scam. Send them 500.00 bucks and they will meet you when they get back from Africa- you have all seen these. I laugh because its easy enough just to build the trailer, sell it for 20k and make a nice little profit.
I also run ads like this one- "I'll pay cash for any tools you may have" Or "I will pay cash for your boat" I cannot buy all of them so I am choosy. I buy the ones that the buyer really needs to sell, he/she needs some cash quick. I then flip it for a profit. The seller was happy, I was happy and the new buyer was happy.
I also run some Ice Cream stores! People buy a cone and I make $3.50! Do that all day every day and you are hitting line drives. I also go to festivals and run concession trailers. I hire out of work dads, moms, students, etc.. I give them a chance to make some money and I sell burgers all day! In one weekend I can make 4-5k and I can do that from March-Oct every single weekend!
You might say "I don't have a concession trailer"? I'll sell you one :) Joking! Start off with a grill, table and a tent. Total start up $500.00 bucks. Go to myfairsandfestivals.com and sign up for events! You will make 1-4k your first event and you can do it all summer long! At the end of the season or in the middle you will have enough cash to buy a trailer if you choose. Then call me and I'll build you one :)
There's some things to think about. I'll tell you if one person had some success or got motivated to try something based off this blog, that would be so cool. Good honest business is lots of fun and very rewarding. Its not just for the super rich or college grads. We can all do it. Start small and get your feet wet!
